I have not visited this hotel, but when I have met the owner elsewhere he has not been pleasant company.
One positive comment however. He sometimes has pieces of the hard, aged, Roomi cheese in his pocket. The nearest place I know to buy this delicacy is Abydos. It is a fairly close relative of Parmesan, very hard, quite salty, and good with a glass of whisky. A bag of peanuts may also be in his pocket, and he can be relied on to provide ice (frozen bottles of water opened with a fearsome knife) if there is a sniff of a high-grade Scotch in the air.
