Pharaohs (Pharaon)

(0020) 95 231-0702, http://www.hotelpharaohs.com

Reviewed in Rough Guide, 2010, p. 299.
The hotel is set back behind what is probably a sacred lake for one of the Mortuary Temples to the north of Medinet Habu. It has a garden with sun and shade, a downstairs dining room, a rooftop terrace as well as about 17 letting rooms. Stella is LE15. Omar Khayam (red wine) is LE110. The food is good, at least when a retired chef from the Sheraton is on duty. The battered fish in particular is outstanding. The Baba Gannouch can be a little spicy.

Come here for tranquility and a magnificent view of the mountains and Medinet Habi.
